Join United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA) as we celebrate Juneteenth 2022 throughout the region with free health and wellness events.
Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. The holiday is a time for celebration and also serves as a reminder of how far we have come in the equity movement. Yet, there is still work to be done.
We know that health disparities and inequities within our community will not go away on their own, and we must continue to do the hard work to reach equity for all by improving the health, education and economic opportunity of our region.
During the Juneteenth weekend, United Way NCA will host multiple COVID-19 vaccination and testing events with our health partners through our newest health initiative, Thrive United 365, which provides equitable access to and distribution of health resources and improves people’s lives by addressing health conditions most affecting our communities.
All vaccination and testing events are free to community members and insurance is not required. Free PPE kits will also be available at each event and include COVID-19 self-test kits, face masks, hand sanitizer and more.
