The Importance of Planning During the COVID-19 Outbreak

by United Way NCA

United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA) is uniquely positioned in the community to convene resources and partners to help join us in the fight to solve the most pressing issues in our community. And today, that issue is the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

During times of uncertainty, we want to remind you—our family of most generous philanthropists and volunteers—that United Way NCA is here and we are working tirelessly to fight for every person in our community.

We have re-activated our Emergency Assistance Fund to provide additional capacity to community-based organizations in the region to deliver economic assistance and access to basic need supplies to the thousands in the region who already have and will be impacted by the temporary loss of income.

However, even more important is that once this outbreak is contained, our work will continue and be more important than ever. We know that this is here for the long-term, and that moving forward, we’ll need to shift our programming and fundraising focuses to highlight how we are helping piece the community back together.

To that end, a planned gift such as an IRA distribution, charitable gift annuity, or a bequest, is critical in helping ensure that YOUR United Way remains a trusted source of support in the community for generations to come.

With a little bit of easy planning today, you will be able to leave a lasting legacy in our community and receive immediate tax benefits!

Together we are creating REAL and LASTING impact in our community. Thank you all for your dedication and continued service.
