The Visionaries: Celebrating our Community’s Strong Women

Mar 03, 2017

by United Way NCA

This month we celebrate women, who are the motivators, the movers, the mentors. They’re our community’s leaders in health, education, and financial stability. They’re the visionaries and the activists, standing up for low-income students and under-resourced school districts from Anacostia to Arlington.

No matter what change you wish to see in the world, you’ll find a strong woman trailblazing toward a better world. In honor of Women’s History Month, United Way of the National Capital Area will share the stories of some of our most inspiring nonprofit leaders. Stepping up to the plate is no easy task. It requires courage, perseverance, and plenty of optimism. United Way NCA thanks women across the National Capital community who push the envelope for progress in their community every day and knows what it means to fight for what is right.

Have a story to tell us about a woman in making a big difference in your neighborhood, like Maria Gomez from Mary’s Center in DC? Share it on Facebook with #WomenUnited and let us all recognize the ladies creating hope and change one community at a time.
