A roof over your head and a warm bed to sleep in is something most of us take for granted. Unfortunately, that is not true for more than 12,000 individuals in the National Capital Community who are living in shelters or on the streets.
You can change that by supporting Project Homeless Connect.
“I got my resume done, I found housing, they were looking for me! You know I must be important for someone to spend a whole year looking for you,” said Mary Ann Blackman a participant at Project Homeless Connect.
On October 19, 2016, United Way NCA will present Project Homeless Connect, a one-day resource fair. This special event will provide on-site medical and dental care, and access to housing, employment and other vital services they may not otherwise receive to people in our community who are experiencing homelessness.
We are also asking for donations of the following items:
- Reading glasses
- Work clothes – suits, etc.
- Blankets/duvet covers
- Cell phones with minutes
- Beauty products
- Bottled water/other non-alcoholic drinks
- Metro cards
If you would like to donate any of these items, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
