Utilizing Salesforce.org Philanthropy Cloud Platform, United Way NCA Becomes Strategic Advisor to Companies Seeking Comprehensive Approach to its Giving Campaigns and Bolstering Employee Engagement

Washington, D.C. (May 8, 2019) —United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA) today introduced a new and innovative way for companies to strengthen their CSR program to increase community involvement and retain and attract employees. With the introduction of the Salesforce.org Philanthropy Cloud platform, United Way NCA will leverage its leadership in running campaigns, and expand its role to strategic advisor to assist companies in bringing a holistic approach to their CSR efforts.  This new tool is made available through a national partnership between United Way Worldwide and Salesforce.

“Long before it became critical to a company’s success, United Way created the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility – through workplace campaigns,” said Rosie Allen-Herring, President & CEO, United Way National Capital Area. “And today, 130 years later nationally and for over 40 here in the Washington region, your United Way is once again at the forefront of the CSR landscape, offering a comprehensive approach with the release of this next generation corporate social giving platform.”

According to recent research by Povaddo, more than half (57%) of those working in America’s largest companies feel that their employers should play a more active role in addressing important societal issues. Salesforce.org Philanthropy Cloud is the best product currently on the market to meet existing and future needs of organizations looking to engage employees more deeply. It connects employees to causes in an easy-to-use and centralized way through giving, matching, and volunteering tools. Philanthropy Cloud helps companies attract and retain talent, improve brand reputation, and positively contribute to their communities. The platform is currently being implemented in United Way markets across the United States.

“Employees are increasingly looking to their companies to support their own personal values. Today’s workforce has higher expectations–they expect to be engaged, informed, empowered and inspired,” said Allen-Herring. “And as a result, your United Way is expanding its offerings to address this changing workforce. Philanthropy Cloud is a game changer for companies that recognize uplifting communities is a social responsibility—not only in terms of dollars, but also in terms of supporting employees who want to give through volunteering. We believe companies that create stronger employee engagement programs will attract and retain top talent.”
