Williams Adley volunteers pack 300 kits for D.C.-area students and veterans
Dozens of employees from the Washington, D.C.-based accounting firm Williams Adley volunteered at United Way Worldwide to pack hygiene and job readiness kits.
As part of the Williams Adley Foundation’s Annual Service Day, employees packed 150 hygiene kits and 150 job readiness kits for United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA) initiatives.
“As part of the Williams Adley Foundation, one of our main goals is to get everyone together to build that bond and as well as give back to the community,” said Van Ha Le, Williams Adley Foundation Treasurer. “That’s a part of our mission—to let people know there are good people out there. Feel free to ask for help when you need it because we’re all here to help each other.”
All 150 job readiness kits were distributed Sept. 30 to military members, veterans, and students at Prince George’s Community College’s Veterans’ Career Fair. The hygiene kits were donated to Charles Hart Middle School in Southeast Washington, D.C.
“It’s a great way to give back to the community as well as raising awareness of how financial difficulties can affect all different types of families and different walks of life,” Le said. “Unless you know a person personally, you won’t know what their (financial) situation is. And as a firm, and individually, we want to be there to help.”
Williams Adley employees also participated in an ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Contrained, Employed) simulation, an interactive experience of the financial challenges faced by more than 718,000 households throughout the region.
