United Way of the National Capital Area’s Young Philanthropists represent a new kind of young professionals in our nation’s capital.
Young Philanthropists are young professionals up to 40 years old who harness their ambitions not only for their careers but for the improvement of the communities they live and work in.
Young Philanthropists understand they can amplify their impact by working with United Way NCA around the areas of health, education and economic opportunity. Through gifts, both financial and of time, Young Philanthropists give back to the region investing in them and gain leadership skills along the way.

Your participation in Young Philanthropists starts with your investment of $1,000 or more to United Way of the National Capital Area. When you make your gift, please indicate that you would like to be included in Young Philanthropists. After that, we’ll take care of the rest and you’ll be eligible to participate in all Young Philanthropists events and engagement opportunities.
You can make your gift to United Way of the National Capital Area in several ways, including:
1. Through your workplace campaign – Numerous workplaces in the National Capital Area participate in annual United Way NCA workplace campaigns. Ask your payroll department for more information and how to make a donation. This option allows you to donate from each paycheck and spread out your investment.
2. Online – Visit https://unitedwaynca.org/donate to make your gift online and indicate that you’re interested in becoming a Young Philanthropist.
3. Send us your donation – Checks and pledge forms can be mailed to United Way NCA, Department 0751, Washington, DC 20073-0751. For more information, please email philanthropy@uwnca.org.
To be a successful Young Philanthropist, start by choosing a cause that means something to you. Whether it’s feeding those experiencing homelessness or providing support to veterans, choose one that you care passionately about. Then, think about how you can contribute. Contributions can be more than financial – dedicate your time, your creativity or ask for contributions to your cause instead of birthday presents. There are so many ways to embody philanthropy as a Young Philanthropist in DC. Find what works for you!
Young Philanthropists hold monthly events that vary among service and volunteer opportunities, social and networking events, and learning opportunities. Events occur anywhere from one to three times per month.
