Your United Way of the National Capital Area welcomed 2021 with a focus and continued commitment on making transformational strides in our fight for equity in health, education and economic opportunity for all members of our community. While the recent events in our Nation’s Capitol were unsettling, it reminded us of who we are as an organization and why our work matters. Your United Way is a champion for ALL voices in the Washington region where we have served for nearly 50 years. We will not let disruption interfere with our transformative efforts to support our neighbors disenfranchised and struggling with the impact of the pandemic, the financial strains from a recession, homelessness, and inequity in education and healthcare. In fact, in the face of challenge and adversity, we stand strong, united and more emboldened to protect, serve and uplift. We commit to be even more nimble, resilient and innovative. As we move forward, focused on the important work that lies ahead, we ask you, “Who are you in the face of challenge and adversity?” If disruption emboldens you to do better for the community, we invite you to join us at the collective community table. -President & CEO, Rosie Allen-Herring
